Effects of Different Methods of Bulb Planting on Growth and Yield of D¼þutch Iris " Ideal "

Abstract
This experiment was carried out with different planting methods in order io survey possibility of bulbs planting by planting machine. The results are summarized as follows:
1. Flowering dates were not influenced by the direction of bulb nose. Upward planting was earlier in flowering than either lateral laydown or upside-dawn planting.
2. Each treatments showed no differences in growth, but downward planting was more vigorous in growth than any other planting method.
3. Weight of bulbs was not significantly different among the treatment, but downward planting tended to decrease the bulb weight slightly.
4. Lateral and downward planting produced bulbs of short and long diameter circumference. Nose-part bulb was crooked and round. Lateral and downward bulbs sprouted and rooted earlier than the normal.
5. Five or thirty centimeter height dropping bulbs lay down mostly downside and few bulbs dropped upward at planting.
